We Were Not In the Market for a Spa Tub But it Was Included in the Price

Way back in the mid 1980s my spouse and I were trying to purchase our first home as we had more energy than money, or so we thought, we were searching to obtain a home that was in need of a small amount of tender loving care. We were renting a small house working the 9 to 5 job, I thought I had a lot of of time to rebuild a home while I continued working as it turned out to I was somewhat wrong in this theory. When you live in a rented space and only work Monday through Friday you do have a lot of spare time but as soon as you get your own house that is in need of a lot of tender loving care you soon come to the conclusion that you no longer have as much time as you thought.

In the backyard of our new house was a unmaintained, scum covered piece of crap that was actually a hot tub. My wife and I decided that we needed to concentrate on getting the remodeling finished to the inside of the house first before we concentrated on the landscaping. Many times when I was renovating on the inside of our home the temperature would be in the mid-90s, no AC only a fan. One late afternoon taking a break on the back deck as it was just too humid to be indoors, I was sitting there looking at that hot tub spa thinking why would I ever want a hot tub I cannot fathom jumping in a hot tub of water when it was 90 plus degrees in the shade. Then it dawned on me I did not have to have the tub full of hot water that tub can also hold cool water.

After thinking about that epiphany for a few moments I went over to the spa and located a drain plug and drained the green water out of it. I examined the pump and hoses they seemed okay. I got the garden hose out and commenced to cleaning the inside of the tub, I was pleasantly surprised at how fast and how nicely it cleaned up. I added some hot tub chemicals that were left by the previous homeowner. In a matter of an hour I had the Cedar hot tubs fairly well cleaned out and was filling it with well water, while waiting for it to fill up a with water I disassembled the filter and washed the hot tub filter. Once there was sufficient water in the hot tub I switched on the motor and to my surprise to it began operating like a champ. Well it did not take long before I was in that tub, yes the water was pretty nippy straight out of the garden hose but by the next day the water was refreshing.
