Small Bathroom - What Can Make It Livable?

If you love your house but hate your bathroom because it is small are ugly, your not alone.  The bathroom is the most used room of the house and it can be the most hated.  Bathrooms are also one of the rooms in your home that can increase, or decrease the value of your home.  So the bathroom should be the first room you start to remodel.  But what if it’s very small and you hate it?  Well there are things we can do about it.  So don’t despair and read this article.

Small Bathrooms

I really like the home I live in right now.  However, I have a big problem with my small bathroom. I went from a bathroom that was bigger than most of the bedrooms I had when I was a kid to what may be one of the world’s smallest. There is so little room that I feel very claustrophobic when I am standing in it, and there is no room to do anything. You can’t comfortably get dressing there after your shower, and finding room for just a few of my daughter’s bath toys is very hard.

I think the worst thing about a small bathroom is that I can’t keep anything I need in there, even though I have a large medicine cabinet in there. It is a huge pain to have to go out into the next room to get something out of the closet that should be stored in the bathroom. When more than one of us has to get ready in our small bathroom you might as well forget it. We are bumping into each other and more often than not, there are some angry words exchanged.

If you have a small bathroom like I do, you have to do some imaginative thinking to make it acceptable. You have to find unique storage ideas if you want to be able to stay in your bathroom and not go nuts. If you can’t find room for your towels, talk to someone at a home improvement store about your small bathroom problem and they may have some great ideas that you may not have thought of on your own.

Just remember when you have a small bathroom that you have to think about space that you might usually not have filled with anything. You have to use shelves and a lot of imagination. While a bathroom with a lot of storage items may not be ideal, it might save you from going mad in your small bathroom. I thought when I moved in that I could deal with the bathroom because the rest of the place was great. I soon learned that this was not the case, and I had to get creative. If I can do it, so can you. You might even find suggestions online or in your local decorating store if you just look around to see what they have to offer. I always find new things when I am out, and usually they are things that I never would have imagined on my own.

One last tip is to see what other people have done with their small bath areas.  You can do this by taking a weekend and going around your area and looking at all the houses for sale.  If it’s an open house, walk in and say hello.  Look at what other people did to their bathroom to get the house ready for a sale.  You just might get a great idea and it’s fun.

Color and mirrors and lighting can make a small bathroom look great.  You just have to use your imagination.  Stick to bright and warm colors for small spaces.  The lighting might make the difference between a dark cave or a bright and happy bathroom.
