Vanity Mirror - A Bathroom Fix

As a youth, I was so fascinated with the vanities that some of my friends had in their bedrooms. These were small stands that had a vanity mirror attached to it. They used these to apply makeup and to do their hair. At my house, these things had to be done in the bathroom, and with two brothers, my time was always limited. I wanted a vanity of my own, but I never got one until college. By that time, I had seven roommates, and three were girls. I had to find a way to apply my makeup and hair when the one bathroom we shared was always full.

The great thing about having a vanity mirror somewhere other than your bathroom is the time. You don’t have to worry about getting into the bathroom. This is a problem, even if you don't have seven roommates. Even with just one child in my home it seems I can never get into the bathroom when I need to. At times, the mirror in your bathroom might not be the best place to apply makeup anyway. When you use a vanity mirror in your bedroom, you can place it where it gets the most light.

If you don’t know what the best light might be, you can move your vanity mirror around to different spots to find out. You want to find a place where sunlight comes in and reflects back on to your face as you look into the mirror. If you are applying makeup, you want the most natural light you can get. If you apply in a dark spot, you will find that you have lines in your makeup when you go outside into the sunshine. You may also find that you have applied it too darkly, and you look somewhat like a clown. Move your vanity mirror around until the sun shines brightly back to your face.

You can buy a vanity set like I had rather cheaply. Mine is put away at the moment, but I will be giving my vanity mirror and table to my daughter when she gets a little older. If something happens to it, I know I can go out and buy one of these rather cheaply, and I also know that she’s going to love having her own vanity mirror. Best of all, I may have just bought myself some more time in my own bathroom. What more does a person need, really?
